So I’m thinking about writing a short book, about witch or maybe fairies? I don’t know yet. I’ve wanted to do this for awhile now and I’m finally going to do it. I’ll keep you posted! Give me some feed back.

I didn’t think I would ever say this but WJMC (Washington Journalism and Media Conference) was the best experience I’ve ever had! The staff were amazing, they dealt with the wheelchair transportation very well. I miss them and everyone I met. Although I’m glad to back home I really do wish WJMC didn’t have to end so quick.

So wow D.C. this week is amazing. Tonigts the gala with everyone. I’m so excited I’m going to miss everyone so much. I’ve met some amazing people in my time here.

Yesterday we were the live host on C-SPAN. That was a great experience but a boring one at that (I learned that I should probably pay more attention to politics because I understand nothing)

Newseum

I went to the Newseum for the first time today! It was great, all of the stuff I saw was fantastic! I learned that journalism and news in general is hard to find and also it’s hard to find the truth. At the Newsuem there was a Pulitzer Prize photos exhitbit, there were so so many photos that I questioned how would you ever know that just a picture could show so much in such a little way. There was a photo there that had a mother shooting up in front of her small child, to me that picture actually showed me that people have the heart to do it. There was so many that I want to tell you all about but I simply don’t have the time. I can say that the Newseum helped me finally figure out what I want to study and become. I want to be a photojournalist.

Later on during the day we had two meeting with differnt people. My first meeting was Erin O’Leary, he is a photojournalist. He showed us photos that he took and why he took them. He has been all over the world taking pictures. I want to be him. Also he taught us that sometimes unplanned shots are a lot more powerful and means deeper. My last and final meeting was with Michael Shear, a journalist for the New York Times. He talked to us more about how the media is different than the older days. Also he told us how it takes time to get to the big dogs. Shear told us to major in the specif topic you want to write about because knowing everything you can before you write about it will help you out in the long run.
